It’s been 30 years
My baby girl
You entered into my life
Changed my world
From mat to glossy
Jet black hair soft and curly
You were the epitome
Of the kind of baby
Who makes a grateful mommy
You were a joy
For whom a book was a toy
You seem to enjoy
Turning the pages
Deciphering letters of the ages
You were quite content
A little too independent
For a new mom who’s arms felt empty
And full when she held you tightly.
Thirty years what a blast
It’s hard to believe time flew so fast
You’re making your way on your own
Far away from your physical home
Our bridge is the telephone
The chamber in my heart
You were in from the start
Is still there and you’re still here.
