Check out this beautifully lighted house in Kildonan area of Winnipeg. The family used to do this for the joy of doing it but they have turned this hubby into a fundraiser for cancer care. That's sad and it sort of takes away from the joy of appreciating the home becausenow people might feel guilty if they enjoy it without contributing something to cancer care.
Cancer has touched most of our lives and it continues to grow. I think raising money for cancer is not doing the job. Instead we might get better dividends fighting environmental pollution and supporting organic farms and industry. That way we'll be tacking the problems from the root.
It's too bad this family decided to go this route with their hobby. Every illness is a potential killer. I lost close friend who was 37 years old to a kidney failure disease, do I go and raise money for kidney diseases? Out of fear we humans think by raising funds we will stop death. If not cancer than it will be something else. Let's enjoy the life we have today. Let us live it to the fullest, savouring every conscious waking moment.
Merry Christmas and a healthy New Year.
