Is it an age thing or are people really tuning in to their spirit more these days? The new age industry has grown by leaps and bounds. Many new age gurus have made a fortune selling peace, success and the magic of intention to the masses. People appear to want to connect to something spiritual without going through religious conversion. There is a supermarket of ideas out their that can fit anyone’s philosophy and leanings. Are these made to order religions comparable to selling snake oils for all cures?
Many people claim to believe in a supernatural being but that being is not connected to any of the religious prophets. We are doing it on our own without the help of the Divine Spirit or the inspired words of God as written say in the Bible, Koran, Torah or other religiously inspired scriptures.
Mankind has grown up and according to the Baha’i Faith we are going through the mature phase of human growth cycle. We have gone through puberty; adolescence and now we are into this adult phase. Could it be this is the reason we think we do not need help and we are old enough to decide for ourselves? Many of the philosophies we read in the new age body of work come from the writings of these old religiously inspired books. The words are the same but clothed in a more accessible language. All the knowledge we have today is from the Divine words. Our egos prevent us from humbling to that greater knowledge, that Creative source of our being.
People appear to take bits and pieces of the inspired words – pieces that do not put pressure on us to adhere to any religious forms. It’s like pulling the teeth from a pit bull’s mouth and yet calls the animal a watchdog. They take what pleases them and cast off those they choose not to follow. I believe there is salvation for those who choose to follow the Divine words of God because the Divine plan for a successful life is all written out for us in the Books of the Creator.
