To be grateful is a spiritual act. It is acknowledging that the blessings that we may have received today came to us as gifts and must not be taken for granted. Being in a thankful frame of mind makes us appreciate the small and the large gifts that we have received. For example you went to bed last evening and you wake up today. You could have died in your sleep but you have lived to see another day. That is a blessing, a gift.
What are some of things you are grateful for today? I am grateful that I am alive, first and foremost. I am grateful that I have a job and today I received a payslip which means my cheque will be delivered in the bank tomorrow. I am grateful that bombs are not falling every where around me, I am safe. I am safe from natural disasters and am not suffering the fate of my sisters and brothers in Asia. I am so thankful for that.
When we are enjoying life's goodness and acknowledge that as we go through our day, we are living consciously, we are living fully, we are experiencing the moments of life and that is wonderful, freeing and living. It is the moments in the day that matters and more importantly, this moment, this very moment that I write this note is the moment pregnant with possibilities. Can you feel the rush of the moment?
