Multiculturalism Day,Saturday June 27th, 2009 attracted hundreds of participants at the Forks Market a natural meeting place for Winnipeg diverse and multicultural community.
Organized for the fourth year by a group of community minded people drawn from the three levels of government, government corporations and community organizations, the event was thwarted last year due to rain. This year the Committee was prepared with an alternative venue should the weather not coopeprate again. Unfortunately it rained all day Saturday but that did not stop Winnipeggers.
There were cultural dances, henna hand painting, spiritual display tables and lots of freebies. It was a day of fun, enjoyment and learning about cultures.
There were greetings from the three levels of government including Federal, Provincial and Municipal as well as greetings from the Lt. Governor of Manitoba His Honour John Harvard.
