Self-discipline has many rewards for the practitioner. Self-discipline is foreign to most of us but it is something that we can all learn if we want to.If you look at all the successful people in life you might find that they have one thing in common - they are disciplined. By discipline I do not mean a militaristic kind of discipline but setting goals and following through. "Self-discipline is personal training that develops self-control and character and results in an orderly efficient life." Dr. Charles Stanley of Intouch Ministries. He also said that Discipline determines destiny.
Discipline is about setting goals, breaking down those goals into manageable tasks and work diligently at accomplishing it. Each day if we move in the direction of our goals without fail we will succeed. When we are not disciplined our lives become chaotic, haphazard and slothful which results in discontent, unhappiness even depression.
On the other hand when you practice discipline you will feel good about yourself as you begin to accomplish what you set out to do e.g. losing weight, saving for something important, maintaining an orderly home etc.
Please answer the following questions for yourself
What is your purpose of being alive?
What is your goal?
What can you do today to move you closer to your goal. List at least one thing today and do it. Tomorrow list another and do it and see how it feels. Have a disciplined day.
